Golda Mae Escalante | General Manager
My name is Golda Escalante, and I am the General Manager here at the Embassy Suites Lompoc. People often mistake me for being about two decades younger than I am, but I’ve been in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years; 10 years in hotel management. I started my career as a disc jockey and newscaster for an FM music radio station after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication. After that, I worked as a Tech Support Specialist for a well-known freight carrier and then found my way to full-service hotels - starting with a focused-service hotel and a Las Vegas casino resort. Although I don’t live in Lompoc, it holds a special place in my heart. I’m actively involved in our local community. I sit on several Boards including the Leadership Lompoc Valley and I serve as the Board Secretary for the Lompoc Tourism Business Improvement District.
The secret to me having such a happy life is about what I do outside of work, because life is not all about work. I’m a passionate amateur chef and a checklist ninja. I am lucky enough to go to Hawaii almost every year, feeding and fueling my need to enjoy tropical weather all year round. I know in my heart that one day I will move there, together with my husband Trin and my beautiful princess, Kiana (which means ‘Island Princess’ in Hawaiian).
I am so fortunate to work with a wonderful team that believes in having fun at work and providing legendary top-notch guest service. I enjoy team members who believe in doing quality work and whose personality makes it easy to come in and enjoy every day.
In a world without hotels, I would be: A Disney singer or a newscaster
Bruce Skidmore | Area Director of Sales & Marketing
My name is Bruce Skidmore and I am the Director of Sales at the Embassy Suites Lompoc. I started washing dishes in an Italian restaurant in Valley Forge, PA as a teenager and that is where I was bitten by the hospitality bug. I have spent over 30 years in various sales and marketing positions since then. I love working in Lompoc because the weather is great but most importantly the people I have the pleasure of working with at the hotel – their teamwork and attitude is inspirational. As for favorite restaurants in the area, Eddie’s Grill on North H Street is the best - great Tri-Tip sandwiches and wonderful salads. I like to spend my free time with my wonderful wife and our cat but after that, both road and mountain cycling, as well as hiking, are my passions; anything that gets me outside. In fact, if there was a world without hotels, my profession would be a professional bike racer. Working in the hospitality industry means moving often, I have moved 12 times in my 30 years in the industry. We are now where we want to be working with the people and a company I really like for the long term. A few fun facts about me -I played the violin as an elementary school student (I wanted the banjo but was overruled). I also played first team rugby all through high school, college at Penn State, and a few years after for a few clubs.
Judy Cadengo | Revenue Manager
I've been in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years and have worked for multiple full-service Hilton family hotels in Southern California. I'm a Cali girl and have lived here my whole life. I have experience primarily in the rooms division departments, including; front office, reservations, sales, and revenue management. Revenue management is my passion! I help the hotel manage rates, inventory, and provide all forecasting. It's exciting to help drive top line revenues for the hotel. In Temecula, we have the advantage of being one of the few full-service hotels and enjoy offering those extra amenities that some of our competitors can't, like our famous cooked to order full breakfast! During my down time I am a mother of two teenage daughters, Vianca and Isabella. We like to travel and do weekend getaways. They keep me on my toes! When I'm not with my kids I spend time with friends and family. I come from a pretty large family and we have social events all year long. This year I'm planning a Disney cruise for my daughters and I during summer vacation. One more thing off the bucket list!
Lacey King | Director of Operations
I am Lacey King, the Director of Operations here at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Lompoc Central Coast. I take on many roles at our hotel, including Human Resources Manager, Controller, and Front Office Director. I have been in the hospitality industry for more than 10 years after realizing that engineering was not for me! I started my hotel career as a guest service agent at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo while finishing my college education at California Polytechnic State University. I briefly left the Central Coast for 2 years at the Embassy Suites Phoenix Airport. However, the extreme temperature differences quickly became old, and I returned to Lompoc in 2012. I love a lot of things about Lompoc, but the rocket launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base are my favorite! I spend time off with my family, including my two boys, Hunter (8) and Jackson (3 months) and dog, Chili.
In a world without hotels, I would be: At a university working with orientation programs.
Manuel Villagomez | Chief Engineer
I'm Manuel Villagomez, the Chief Engineer at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Lompoc. You're in good hands when you stay with us, I've been in the hospitality industry for almost 14 years - all of them with the Hilton Family. Before moving to Lompoc I lived in Chicago. I love this town because it is small, quiet, and the people are very friendly. When I dine out, I enjoy Mexican and Italian food. My free time consists of spending time with my wonderful daughter Emily Villagomez. Another thing I enjoy doing is playing the trombone in a band.
In a world without hotels, I would be: A Musician
Sales & Catering
Isagani 'Sonny' Tabin | Food and Beverage Manager
My name is Sonny Tabin and you probably know me best as the man behind your complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast and evening receptions. I have worked in the industry for about 20 years and am looking forward to many more! I've been at the Embassy Suites Lompoc for the entire time, and couldn't imagine a better place to work. I moved to Lompoc in 1989 after living in Manila and Hawaii, and I absolutely love the city for the beautiful weather, peacefulness, cost of living, and the scenic Central Coast views. Many guests don't realize how close the coast is, and how quickly you can access everything in the city. I really enjoyed Thailand's street food when I visited, and Thai food has been my favorite ever since. Being close to the ocean is great because you can get fresh seafood. I like to accumulate as much free time as possible and then use it all at once on a big trip - I want to try to see the world when and while I can. I am a quick learner who does my best to keep active, stay busy, and am always on the lookout for adventure.
In a world without hotels, I would be: A Jack of All Trades
Stella Wells | Sales Team
My name is Stella Wells and I am part of the Sales & Catering team here at the Embassy Suites Lompoc. I have worked in the hotel industry for about two and a half years, but I bring more than 28 years of experience in the public industry, including Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Government. In all my careers, including serving proudly in the U.S. Navy, I have always enjoyed interacting with other people. Every person has a story to tell, if only people had the time to stop and listen! I had the honor of working at an Assisted Living facility/Alzheimer facility, and I learned so much from the elderly there, as they had lived and seen so much. I had the honor of meeting Ida, 96 years young, and one of the last living survivors of the Titanic. Ida was a classy lady who proudly wore her pearls every day. I loved spending time with her and listening to her life. I am a true 'native' of Lompoc, and love to share what Lompoc has to offer to our guests. I am passionate about my hometown, and know everything there is to know about Lompoc, and love sharing that with our guests. I also love the food in Lompoc, my favorite restaurant is Eddie's Grill. It has the best salads and sandwiches in town! When I am not working and have some free time, I love cooking, taking long walks, watching movies, and spending time with my boyfriend, family and friends. Although I love living in Lompoc I have lived in six other cities, but Lompoc is by far my favorite place.
In a world without hotels, I would: Be very sad! If I did do something else though it would be a three way toss between working behind the lens as a Camera person on a movie or TV set, Sous Chef or a Meteorologist.
